Loire Valley Wines

The Loire Valley, a large and diverse, fertile region stretching some 300 miles along France’s Loire River, produces more white wines than any other region in France. But don’t overlook the Loire’s reds, thanks to the valley’s cooler climate it produces refreshingly crisp red wines too. Loire Valley wines are almost all possess relatively high acidity.

Loire Valley grapes include Muscadet (crisp and dry wines) and Chenin Blanc (dry, sweet and sparkling wines), Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The valley’s dominant red grape is Cabernet Franc, although it also grows Pinot Noir, Gamay, Malbec and others.
